          speechless. On the island of Bo Hon it is as well spectacular
          Sung Sot, or the Cave of Surprise, of gigantic dimensions and
          with several chambers full of stalactites and stalagmites. On
          the same island there is another suggestive cave, Trinh Nu,
          or the Virgin Cave, because it has a silhouette in the shape of
          a woman with long hair and its legend speaks of a romantic
          love that dates back to distant times. Me Cung or the Laby-
          rinth Cave and Thien Cung or the Celestial Palace Cave are
          other two spectacular caves in the bay.

          In most cruises, in addition to visits to caves, beaches and
          floating villages, you can also do kayak excursions. They of-
          fer the unique experience of entering the calmed waters of
          the bay and to feel part of this magical natural wonder that
          is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

                                                              The name Halong literally means “descending dragon” and
                                                                comes from a legend that tell us the bloody battles that
                                                              faced the Vietnamese with their eternal Chinese invaders.
                                                              One day, the mother of all dragons materialized, along with
                                                              her children, to help the Vietnamese fight the invader. The
                                                              area was strewn with jade rocks, apparently they were the
                                                               teeth of dragons and, over the millennia, they were trans-
                                                                 formed into the islets that today embellish the bay.
